An App for Preventing Distracted Driving among Teens
Teen Driving
Overview
The founder of Teen Driving reached out to us with an original concept for a driving monitoring app aimed at preventing irresponsible driving among teenagers. Using the app, parents can be sure their teens are driving safely.
Our challenges included designing a comprehensive solution for in-vehicle monitoring, implementing a real-time car tracking interface, sending notifications about rule violations with photos and videos, producing driving reports, and developing a feature that would block texting while driving.

Library of components
Creating a library of components allows us to speed up development, maintain visual consistency, and successfully scale a product without any design discrepancies.
Wireframes
Wireframes and prototypes visualize the user’s interaction with an interface. This stage helps us review design solutions with the project’s stakeholders, test them before implementation, and quickly make amendments.
Design Objectives
Since Teen Driving is a driving monitoring app, our goal was to make it enable users to control the ride in real time, receiving data from a built-in device in the car. The biggest challenge was to implement familiar, informative, and minimalist user interface patterns.
Authorization
It takes minimum time to authorize users in the app due to the minimalist design and intuitive UI/UX. Users are able to create an account to get access to the system and manage settings. Registration and login via Facebook speed up and simplifies the process.
Driving
After parents have logged in, they can add a driver and car. Then they can monitor the car’s location, destination, speed, distance travelled, etc. Moreover, parents receive notifications with photos and videos in case of violations on the road.
Drivers
Every feature is customizable, letting parents turn it on and off whenever they like. Drivers can personalize settings like the speed limit, cabin broadcast (using the selfie camera), and push notifications.
Car Information
We came up with a user-friendly, minimalist design that covers broad functionality. Visual solutions made the Car Information tab a lot more informative. Users can see the details about every car they’ve added to the app, including detailed specifications along with technical and performance data.
Chat
We added chat functionality so parents can stay in touch and check on their teen drivers. The chat feature supports both text and audio messages for the comfort of users. We also added common features like file attachments and online status that are familiar to users of any age.
