How we work
Designing intuitive and attractive products requires thorough preparation and deep expertise.
Our product design process at UGEM consists of several phases that allow us to create products that meet business and user needs at the same time. Let’s consider our workflow to see what you can expect when working with us.
UGEM is a research-oriented UI/UX design agency
We’re passionate about designing top-quality user experiences and eye-catching interfaces. To do this, we stick to a research-driven approach. Our product design workflow is divided into several major phases:
Product Discovery
Product Discovery
The idea of Product Discovery is to properly define requirements and key technological drivers in order to achieve particular business goals. Deep research helps you save time and money by focusing on the right design direction from the beginning. Working alongside our clients at this phase, we check the business and technical feasibility of your idea, calculate estimates, and clarify the preliminary scope of work.
Processes
- Research and analysis
- Scope definition
Deliverables
- Lean Canvas or Business Model Canvas
- Value chain
- UX review of existing functionality and competitive analysis report
- User Personas
- Feature breakdown list
- Functional and non-functional specifications and requirements
Ideation and Prototyping
Ideation and Prototyping
Once the project is defined, our designer proceeds to designing the information architecture (IA). The IA efficiently organizes the structure of your product. As part of IA design, we create a site map, write texts, and define a clear taxonomy. Based on the site map and user flows, we create wireframes and clickable prototypes for your product. As an option, we conduct prototypes testing for essential product flows and generate a report based on the obtained results. It allows us to identify the most valuable insights into how users interact with the product. Then, based on the feedback, we can make quick changes before development.
Processes
- Information architecture design
- UX writing
Deliverables
- User flows
- Content inventory
- Recommended site map
- Wireframes and clickable prototypes
- Created text for user interfaces
User interface design
User interface design
User interface (UI) design is creating the visual components of a digital product. Our UI design service establishes your brand identity, making your product stand out. At this phase, our team defines your product’s visual direction and layout, establishes the visual language, and build mockups and other graphics.
Processes
- Product image definition
- User interface design
Deliverables
- Moodboard & concept
- Interactive prototypes and mockups for all resolutions
- UI assets (icons, banners, patterns)
- Illustrations
- Animation of interaction
- Design specifications (style guide, UI Kit)
Testing and evaluation
Testing and evaluation
After development process, our team pays maximum attention to testing of the implemented product. In this phase, a UI/UX designer together with a QA specialist conducts a series of activities to ensure the product works as intended, identify any inconsistencies or errors and fix them. We also can run user testing to learn how them interact with the product and fix any issues in further iterations.
Processes
- Layout testing
- User testing (Optionally)
Deliverables
- Reports with all the issues found
Tools we use
Our product design toolbox contains a lot of tools. We use Sketch and Invision for fast prototyping, Abstract for design workflow management, and Moqups to create and collaborate on wireframes and mockups. But we’re always curious about new tools and can easily adapt to your preferences.
